Herniated Disc Treatment Denver Colorado

“Hi it’s Dr. Ebeling and today we’re going to do a test for a herniated disc. This patient came all the way from Russia, and we suspect it’s an L5/S1 disc. On this side we’ll do a neurological reflex and watch the foot here, normal reflex. On this side, see, no reflex. So this is a flexion distraction table, specifically for herniated discs. The L5/S1 disc is right here in the back, take a breath in and out. So this is the good side, she has the reflex, oh there it goes! Ok, so we took pressure off that disc and it restored normal function of that deep tendon reflex at L5/S1. Hi my name is Sonya, and my sister Dilbar, she flew all the way back from Russia, she has a herniated disc problem for a number of years and the local doctors suggested surgery, obviously she didn’t want to do surgery, she has 2 kids and surgery takes a long recovery time so we figured it would be best if she can come here to get some treatment from Dr. Ebeling. I had a malfunctioning Ileoceccal valve or something like that. I felt better, and my back was out of alignment and he fixed that so I was happy with the treatment and he is really knowledgeable. I’ve been to other chiropractors before and I felt like he was the most knowledgeable and respectful, he listens well and after a few days I felt better, kept feeling better and then I had an idea that maybe it would be a good thing for my sister to come in and get a treatment for her back. She got three treatments and the reflexes are better and she feels better and I feel comfortable that we accomplished with the treatment and whoever is suffering from a similar issue I recommend Dr. Ebeling because he made us feel better and we’re really, really thankful. You’re Welcome!

What is a Deviated Septum?

What is a Deviated Septum?

You probably already know if you have a deviated septum. You’ve been told by your medical doctor or an EENT specialist that the thin piece of cartilage that separates the 2 nostrils is pushed off to one side and affecting your breathing, possibly causing sleep apnea, and worse for your partner, snoring.

What causes a deviated septum?

A lot of patients report to me that they previously had their nose broken or injured while either playing sports, involved in a fight, or from the air bag deploying in a car accident. I personally think that sleeping on your face may also be a possible cause.

How To Check Yourself for a Deviated Septum

Take your thumb and plug one nostril and breathe in. Now switch sides. Is one side significantly more restricted than the other? If so, you might have a deviated septum.

Traditional Medical Care for Deviated Septum

People have been told for years that they need to have deviated septum surgery or septoplasty to get this corrected. That can be not only expensive (thousands of dollars) but down right dangerous from secondary infections and side effects of anesthesia. This is because they have to make an incision in your nose and scrape away cartilage.

What Can Chiropractic Do for a Deviated Septum?

Now that word is getting out that I do a special adjustment on the nasal septum I want you to know exactly what I do. A balloon is attached to a blood pressure cuff and run up the clogged nostril as far as possible. The cuff is then pumped up and as the balloon expands it puts pressure on the septum like a hydraulic jack. Because the septum is flexible it can easily bend back into a more normal position helping the person breathe better, correct sleep apnea, and best of all help with snoring!

How Many Adjustments Does it Take?

Typically I have found that it only takes one session in the office to fix the deviated septum. It just feels like a big pressure inside your nose and takes less than 60 seconds to perform.

What Should I Do Next?

So if you want to breathe better, use a natural approach to fixing sleep apnea, or maybe get your spouse to quit snoring it would be well worth it to come (or send them) down to my office for a visit. I just had a new couple come in this week and they both wanted it done. They could tell right away that their breathing was much improved.

I could save you thousands of dollars and many sleepless nights!

Fibromyalgia Symptoms

Fibromyalgia Symptoms include body aches, headaches, fatigue, trouble sleeping, muscle spasms, memory problems, and irritable bowel.  Modern medicine has yet to come up with an effective cure although some authorities point to a problem with elimination of phosphate from the body.  The kidneys don’t seem to be able to get rid of it and it builds in the system causing these symptoms.

Chiropractic care does seem to help a number of people suffering with fibromyalgia symptoms, especially the headaches.  Specifically the ABC technique as well as Applied Kinesiology.

Here’s a video of a patient that suffered with Fibromyalgia symptoms for 20 years and had been to many different doctors and finally got relief here at A-Just-A-Ble Chiropractic Center.

Back Pain Remedies

Back Pain Remedies

I’m writing this blog post to Save You a LOT of Aggravation.

So many times people come to my office after they’ve already tried some back pain remedies and usually they are in much worse shape than if they had just not done anything at all.

So in this blog post I want to address the question of “Should I be using Ice or Heat for my back pain?”

The answer is “It depends”

It’s mostly a matter of time. Here’s what I mean.

When someone first injures themselves, the body responds by increasing circulation and blood flow to the area, bringing in all kinds of specialized blood cells to start the healing process. This will make the area swollen, red, and sore. Basically inflammation.

It also interrupts with the normal function of the area so you are forced to rest.

So inflammation is needed for the body to heal but it’s when it gets over inflamed that the problem can get worse. Applying heat to the injured area in the first 24-48 hours is going to open up the blood vessels, allowing more circulation to the area and more inflammation and is going to make your pain WORSE!

So the best course of action in those crucial first 24-48 hours after any injury is to APPLY ICE! I always tell people after they’ve been in a car accident to apply ice for the first 2 days to their neck and back, even if they are not feeling any pain yet because typically it’s the day after the wreck they start to feel symptoms.

So forget the other back pain remedies. This is the one you want to follow for new injuries:

Apply ice to the injured area for 20 minutes maximum and no longer. You will experience 3 stages when you do this.
1.It will feel cold!
2.It will start to ache and hurt! (Suck it up and get through it)
3.It will start to feel numb

This is what you want. The ice is taking down the swelling and inflammation and also numbing the pain. It constricts the blood vessels and prevents too much blood from coming into the area. Research has shown that going past 20 minutes begins to have a reverse effect.

Keep the ice off for 40 minutes and you can repeat the process if needed.

Typically you can begin to start alternating ice and heat starting the third day to help remove toxins and cellular debris.

Chronic injury back pain remedies
Heat is primarily used on injuries that are not new. It helps to loosen up tissues and makes things more flexible.

So there you have it. I hope this article helps and gave you some great value. Use it as a guide in your decision making process if and when you find yourself with a back injury. If you liked it be sure to share it with your family and friends.

How to Need a Chiropractic Adjustment LESS Often

How to Need a Chiropractic Adjustment LESS Often

When people seek out chiropractic care it is usually for one of two reasons. They want to either a) get out of pain or b) achieve a health goal. The goal might be they want to reduce their number of asthma attacks, or maybe they just want to do everything they can to stay healthy and prevent problems, or maybe they want to be totally in alignment for an upcoming 5k race.

For most people though it is choice “A” and the purpose of this blog post is to tell you what you can do so you need a chiropractic adjustment LESS often and how to get the MOST out of your chiropractic adjustment at the same time.

So first we have to assume that you actually are getting adjusted by your chiropractor. That’s great! There’s lots of benefits to getting treatment including feeling better, less stress, sleeping better, more mobility, ability to participate in hobbies and sports, less irritable, better family relationships, and overall happiness. We all want more of that right?

But how can you even More benefit from your chiropractic care? Simple. Start doing all the right things and avoid all the wrong things that got you to be in position “A” to begin with.

Here’s a short list:

  1. Decrease your stress. “Yeah right!” you say. Well maybe it is near impossible to reduce all the stress in your life but I’m sure you could focus on one or two areas where you could begin to do some de-stressing. My acupuncture teacher had it right when he said “there are only 3 areas of life that causes upset or stress. Spouse/Money/Kids” What will you do to improve these areas?

Because let’s face it, those people are not going to change what they do. It’s up to you on how you will handle life’s challenges. I’m not here to tell you what to do with your family/work relationships but when there are diminishing returns on your time/energy/money and the balance is out of whack, and you are unhappy, maybe it’s time for a change.

  1. Eat Right. When you eat, here’s a good rule of thumb. “If God made it, eat it. If man made it, don’t eat it” Why? All the added sugar in most man made foods put additional stress on your pancreas and adrenal glands. Improperly functioning adrenal glands are one of the main causes of lower back problems. This is because of the association between how well certain low back support muscles will work in response to how well your adrenals are working. In other words, adrenals overloaded from stress? Back muscles overloaded. End result is failure to keep your body in alignment and pinched nerves resulting. I see this every single day!

  2. Sleep Enough. Your body needs rest to recover and naturally heal itself. Not enough sleep adds to your stress level. See #2 above

  3. Exercise/Stretch. Exercise keeps your muscles tone and joints flexible. It’s also a great stress reducer. Walking/swimming/bike riding/weight lifting are all good. Exercise and deep breathing help to clear the accumulation of toxins in the lymphatic system. Stretching also helps to reduce injuries from chronic tension in the muscles.

  4. Drink Water. Not coffee. Not tea. Not soda pop. Not alcohol. Not milk shakes. Water. It helps to detox your body of waste products and has no caffeine in it. Caffeine is a drug that stimulates your adrenal glands and we already talked about that in #2 above.

  5. Be a safe driver and avoid injuries. Granted, it’s always the “other guy’s fault” when it comes to accidents and sometimes they are unavoidable. Just be alert at all times. No texting while driving or like a recent commercial I saw: no distracted/drunk/drugged driving please!

Denver Chiropractic Patient Went Blind!

Denver Chiropractic Patient Went Blind!

Yes a patient of mine called me on the phone to say that she had gone blind while working on the computer and was wondering if I could do anything?  It was the day before New Year’s Eve and my initial reaction was disbelief.  How could this happen to someone and more importantly, what was I going to do about it?  I had heard the story about Harvey Lillard, the very first chiropractic patient who was deaf and had his hearing restored by a chiropractic adjustment given by D.D. Palmer in Davenport, Iowa on September 18, 1895.

But he is known as a legend among chiropractors.  Did my Denver chiropractic office have what it takes to be mentioned in the same circles as the Inventor?  I was about to find out.  Here’s my story.

What could Chiropractic do for you?  Only one way to find out!

Chiropractor Near Me in Denver, CO

If you are looking to find a chiropractor near me in Denver, CO check out this short video. It’s a humorous look at the past in 1932 with Hollywood illustrating the success of spinal manipulation over conventional medical treatment.

Here you have a young man suffering from a chronic stiff neck. In the full length video you see his mother who insists that he not play with the other children and to keep wearing his neck brace so that he can “get better”. His father, on the other hand, wants him to go out and play and so does the family doctor but the wife who plays the skeptic, scoffs at this advice.

This is relevant today because it’s amazing that there are still people who are skeptical about chiropractic

In the end it is Stymie who administers a chiropractic adjustment quite by accident but to everyone’s amazement, cures the boy’s stiff neck. The father who is delighted his son’s neck can move again, asks Stymie what he did, to which he replies “I just gave it a twist!”

So I hope you enjoy this blast from the past and it brings a smile to your face! 🙂

Wasn’t that fun? Share it with your friends! This Our Gang/Little Rascals video shows one of the first Hollywood chiropractic adjustments ever caught on film! But all kidding aside, don’t pay attention to the ratchet spinning noise the special effects people added at the moment Stymie applies the neck adjustment, it doesn’t really sound like that and chiropractic is very safe for people of all ages.

Officially invented in 1895, Chiropractic was still in it’s early days in 1932, yet to date has helped millions of people regain their health naturally through the use of hands only spinal adjustments.

So if you are searching for a chiropractor near me might I suggest checking out the office of Robert Ebeling DC. He has had an office in the Denver area for 25 of the last 120 years that Chiropractic has been in existence.

And in case you missed it, here’s the movie dialogue:

“Look the Mule ran away!”

Twist and CRACK! “Down there!”

At which point the boy smiles and says “Gee, I can move my neck! Gee, you cured me!”

“Aww, that’s nothing!”

“Come on let’s get going!”

When he arrives home he says “Look mom, my stiff neck isn’t stiff anymore!”

“How did it happen?”

“Well Stymie gave it a twist!”

“A twist?” “Stymie did it?!” “Oh darling I’m so glad!”

“What did you do?”

“Aw I just give it a twist!”
