What is Applied Kinesiology?
Applied Kinesiology is an advanced form of Chiropractic diagnosis that uses muscle testing. Chiropractic is based on the theory that Health and Disease are Life Processes related to the Function of the Nervous System.
Why do we use Applied Kinesiology?
Irritation of the Nervous System by Mechanical, Chemical, or Psychic factors is the Cause of Disease. Restoration and Maintenance of Health depends on Normal functioning of the Nervous System. Therefore, Diagnosis is the identification of these Nervous System Irritants and the Treatment is their Removal by the Most Conservative Method available.
Applied Kinesiology can help understand why a person may have any number of problems from Digestion to Allergies, Immune System issues, headaches, low back pain, knee pain, and many other problems.
What happens if there are weak muscles?
Your Nervous System is nothing more than “Sensory in…, Motor out…” We test the motor portion of that statement and seek to find out why a muscle may be in a weakened state.
Your muscles should normally be strong. If you’ve never experienced Applied Kinesiology testing you might be surprised if we find a weakness. A weak muscle could be the underlying cause of the pain you’re having.
There’s 5 main reasons why a muscle would test weak.
- a pinched nerve
- too many waste products in the muscle
- an acupuncture disturbance
- a nutrition issue
- a misalignment involving the skull and your breathing pattern.
How do we do the muscle testing?
Sometimes we start with a strong muscle and then have you touch other body parts to see if the muscle stays strong or not.
This doesn’t tell you “what” is wrong, it just gives you the possible location of a problem.
When I am checking someone’s shoulder, I’m looking for what muscles are not working right.
Look me up on YouTube if you want to see some videos of this.
Where did Applied Kinesiology come from?
Applied Kinesiology was developed by Dr. George Goodheart way back in the early 1960’s. His father was a Chiropractor too. He was given a book on muscle testing and started using it in his practice in Detroit Michigan. He became such a Phenomenal Chiropractor that he was the first one ever to be asked to be the US Team Doctor for the Olympics in 1980!
Another great story is about his next door neighbors there in Detroit. They had a couple of boys, and every so often the neighborhood would get together and play Flag Football. Well, one day one of the boys hurt his wrist and George said, “Come here, let me fix that for you!” And the boy was amazed…he said “How did you do that?!”
Well after that, George inspired both boys to grow up and become Chiropractors.
The boy, Wally, was super intelligent and after he got his license to practice Chiropractic, he also got an advanced degree in Neurology and could explain in great detail, how and why through all the neurological pathways that Chiropractic would work. He then went to go work in George’s office for 5 years and learned everything he knew, and then after being in practice for 30 years, adding to it and refining it, started teaching. Luckily they recorded the workshops, and I have my own copy of these classes. The program has 16 classes and each class is 12 hours long.
So I’ve learned from the best of the best! And I want to share my knowledge with you!
